Keep the Magic in Your Holidays
Tips for Avoiding Stress and Boosting Joy

1. Keep a regular date with yourself to sit quietly, meditate, take a hot bath—anything that pampers your soul.

2. Don’t feel obligated to attend every party. Choose the gatherings that really matter to you.

3. Experience the joy of service to a friend or loved one in need, a shelter or community group. Serving others gives back to you 10-fold.

4. Create gifts with your hands not just your pocketbook. Something original that you make or bake is priceless in value.

5. Make holiday dinners a cooperative. A potluck shares the responsibility and deepens the bond with your guests.

6. Lower your expectations about the way the holidays are supposed to be. Shift your thinking and transform your experience.

7. Simplify and slow down. When you do less, buy less and consume less—you gain greater joy and peace of mind.

8. Experience the beautiful outdoors—go for a walk. Dress for the conditions and you’ll enjoy any weather.

9. Indulge in holiday goodies, but don’t go overboard. Make sure you regularly eat healthy, nourishing food.
