Mindful Moments Meditation Class Series
with Dr. Marla McMahon

Mindfulness meditation is a simple technique that anyone can learn. Studies have shown that a regular mindfulness meditation practice can:

- Improve overall health and sense of well-being
- Reduce stress, blood pressure, anxiety, and depression
- Increase concentration and immune function
- Strengthen the ability to cope with the stressors of daily life

In this class you will be guided through a series of meditations involving sitting and mindful movement. You will gain familiarity with being present to the “here and now” and learn to practice mindfulness meditation.

NO YOGA OR MEDITATION EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY

Marla McMahon is a yoga instructor, meditation teacher, and a clinical psychologist with experience in mind-body healing. She is the director of SATYA well-being center which offers innovative holistic psychological services, meditation groups, and semi-private yoga sessions. She has advanced training in mindfulness based cognitive therapy, mindful eating, and mindfulness for stress reduction. Her extensive interest and training in stress reduction, wellness, and health psychology informs her yoga teaching and her clinical work. Mobility and Stabilty

In this 3-hour, extended class we will examine mobility and stability in a variety of asana. The dynamic interplay of these two aspects of our practice is key to our steady progress - not only in asana, but also through the various aspects of astanga yoga. Requirement of One Year Iyengar Yoga Experience

Brian Hogencamp is a full-time practitioner, and certified instructor of Iyengar yoga. He is a student of Manouso Manos and regularly returns to Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family. With Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra as foundation, the writings of B.K.S., Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar provide structure to his textual study, and insight to his practice. As yoga is an experiential subject, he believes the distance between what is taught and what is learned can only be illumined by one’s own practice. Consistent, dedicated practice continues to reveal to him the universality and completeness of the Iyengar approach to yoga. Drawing from his evolving experience and with deep gratitude for the teachings received, he is eager to share the light yoga can bring.

As the first day of winter approaches and the year comes to an end, it is an opportune time to slow down, reflect and plant the seeds for a new year. We can look back at our year, noticing the ebb and flow of life, and be aware of how our practice effected our lives. We may also look forward to the year ahead and see how our practice might be there to support and nourish us along the way.

A minimum of six months yoga experience required.

Jennifer Sadugor, B.A., Certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, is owner of The Yoga Solution. She has been practicing yoga for 24 years. Her primary teachers are Donald Moyer and Judith Hanson Lasater.
