Penetrating the Layers
with Ramanand Patel

September 20, 2014

10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
and 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This wokshop is presented in two parts.

In the first part we will look at some more advanced postures, how to break down these poses into various parts by knowing their primary and secondary movements related to simpler basic postures, common mistakes, problems and soultions.

In the second part, time permitting, we will be explore the art of recognizing physical, physiological, organic, pranic, sensory, and meditative levels in various progressive ways, leading from Annamaya Kosha of Sthula Sharira (gross body) to Ananadamaya Kosha of Karana Sharira (causal body). We will look into the positions of the fourteen major nadis and see some of their relation to the yogic model of the body. This inquiry into the yoga practice will be directed towards understanding the nature of mind in asana practice and its relation to the Self.

This workshop is appropriate for teachers as well as students who have been practicing yoga for at least one year.

Ramanand’s extensive, distinct, and lifelong yoga experiences inform both his yoga practice and his teaching style. He is recognized and respected internationally and many in the yoga community regard him as one of the world’s foremost yoga instructors. Ramanand actively encourages both learning and sharing of ideas amongst his students and peers.

Brian Hogencamp
Mobility and Stabilty

Nov 9, 2014

1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

In this 3-hour, extended class we will examine mobility and stability in a variety of asana. The dynamic interplay of these two aspects of our practice is key to our steady progress - not only in asana, but also through the various aspects of astanga yoga. "When stability becomes a habit, maturity and clarity follow." - B.K.S. Iyengar

Requirement of One Year Iyengar Yoga Experience

Brian Hogencamp is a full-time practitioner, and certified instructor of Iyengar yoga. He is a student of Manouso Manos and regularly returns to Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family. With Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra as foundation, the writings of B.K.S., Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar provide structure to his textual study, and insight to his practice. As yoga is an experiential subject, he believes the distance between what is taught and what is learned can only be illumined by one’s own practice. Consistent, dedicated practice continues to reveal to him the universality and completeness of the Iyengar approach to yoga. Drawing from his evolving experience and with deep gratitude for the teachings received, he is eager to share the light yoga can bring.

Deepening Your Yoga Practice
- Looking Backwards, Moving Forward
with Jennifer Sadugor

Sunday, December 7, 2014

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

When we practice, we move into our poses, we align and possibly re-align, stretch, (sometimes) remember to breathe.

What happens next? Is there something that is supposed to happen that takes us more deeply into our practice? Is it more challenging poses? More stretching?

This workshop will explore this concept of deepening our practice through a variety of asanas, a short pranayama practice and closing with savasana. Through our practice together, we will individually learn how to take our practice to another level.

A minimum of six months yoga experience required.

Jennifer Sadugor, B.A., Certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, is owner of The Yoga Solution. She has been practicing yoga for 24 years. Her primary teachers are Donald Moyer and Judith Hanson Lasater.

“The body is my temple; the asanas are my prayers.” - B.K.S. Iyengar
